New Years Eve & the Fabulous Makeup

New Years Eve is an awesome excuse to try some new things with your look. It is all about glamour, glitter, beauty and fun so if you need some ideas to spark your inner party girl here is a little list to get you going.....

  • Use Black Duo Eyelash glue for false lashes. It comes out of the tube grey but dries a dark black and gives you a long lasting eyeliner effect.

  • Use tape or a business card to give yourself a straight line on your winged eyeliner. Tip: If you use tape first stick it on your hand to make it easier to peel off the sensitive skin next to your eye.

  • Make a fish face... now using a blush brush apply bronzer into the crease in your cheeks. It will give you a nice contoured look. Apply blush on apples of your cheeks like you normally would.

  • Cut a piece of tape down the middle with decorative scrapbook scissors to give yourself a fun stencil when you paint your nails. Tip: Make sure your first color of polish is completely dry. If not the tape will peel up the color. Glitter is also fun to use as your second color.

  • Add a mole using brown eyeliner. I like to turn my " Oh no, I can't figure out what to wear! stress zit" into a mole to camouflage it.

Have a fun and safe holiday everyone!!!

Purple Teeth

As I sit here with a glass of red wine to my left I feel completely at peace with my teeth. I have always been given compliments about my smile, more specifically my teeth and how "white and straight" they are. Well I have to thank my parents for the straight part (and their wallet for paying for that beautiful and definitely NOT awkward two years of braces...um......yea....). For the white part I give credit to Crest Whitestrips. As a lover of coffee and red wine it is no surprise I ALWAYS have a pile of these bad boys in my bathroom drawer. In case anyone needs a visual they are a small, flexible strip with a thin coat of gel containing the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide. Duh. Bleach. Leave them on your teeth for about 5-15 minutes (depending on the specific strip) and over the next few weeks you should see a change. You can find them in just about any grocery store or drugstore for approx. $15-$30. The price changes with the different kits they offer but each should give you 2-3 weeks worth of strips. I know for me it has helped in canceling out the stains my bad habits would leave behind. There is only one small issue I have: it makes it hard to talk when you have them in because the more you move your mouth, the faster they slip off. But hey, maybe its not so bad. We could all use a little quiet time.

My new favorite lip gloss!

Sticky lip gloss..... biggest pain in the ass if you ask me. If I wanted my hair in my mouth it already would be- not because when I turn my head I am forced to eat my entire ponytail when it sticks to my lips. New fav: Revlon ColorBurst™ (especially the color Bordeaux) for one reason: it stays on FOREVER... it is so NOT sticky... I feel like an 80's rock star when I wear this color. Ok. 3 reasons. Oh and did I mention it's cheap for what you get out of it? It is better than some department store brands I have tried and half the price. It was about $8 and most of the time the drug stores that carry it have a deal going on for buy one get one half off/ free so keep an eye out. Another perk to this pretty stuff: it has antioxidants and vitamins that help to nourish your lips while you wear it so it actually does you some good while you're lookin' good.

So go get it and start loving it.
